Yo Micro.blog 📸 experts: can m.b post GIFs?
This .gif file just renders as a static image both on my page and onwards to social cross-posts when posted from m.b Mac OS native app
Learning Micro.Blog: Around 4 weeks ago: Micro.Blog cross-posts to #LinkedIn changed from Public Vis to 1st degree Connections only. This excludes even Followers. Did I change a setting, or was there a change in #LinkedInAPI? | #tech
Learning Micro.blog:
One post: blog.w4rner.com/2020/11/1…
Three different displays from Twitter, Mastodon & LinkedIn on cross-post.
Interesting to see that:
Twitter: linked out even though <280, Mastodo only one to draw out the YT link from Markdown.
Feature suggestion @manton: make it quicker to setup word-based auto category filters.
Specifically:
OR terms with keywords
Case-insensitive
Testing Hugo Shortcode on Micro.blog itself (looks fine on site as per @manton suggestion:

Assumming it’s just gonna be some text code: if so, any tips for posting videos y’all?

Micro.blog questions for @Manton & @MacGenie (4/4)
Is there a way to update draft posts on Mac OS app without accidentally publishing the post when you click ‘Update Post’?

Is there a way to have Medium only syndicate ‘Title-length’ articles, and exclude micro posts? I feel it’s an abuse of that platform’s mission to syndicate Twitter style pips there.

Does setting future publish date = reliable way to ‘schedule’ posts?
Do social feeds distribute on that ‘publish date’ too?
Re. already published, with pictured: it removed from blog.w4rner.com but not micro.blog/w4rner

How to get better open graph data (& favicon) on default themes?
WordPress Import
1). Date metadata is retained. This makes my micro.blog ‘hello, world!’ look a little silly occuring after a solid 8 posts!
2). CAUTION: WP blog tags are converted to Categories. (see example from my final blog post calling out a bunch of Big Tech platforms)
Trying the Wordpress import feature, to bring over my old codingforpeoplepeople.wordpress.com blog.
Where I differ from the help docs (https://help.micro.blog/2017/wordpress-import/) is that it downloaded an XML automatically, rather than WXR.
Feature request: allow Category selection on MacOS app.
Turns out Micro.Blog sees # as more of Markdown’s ‘octothorp’ than the phenomenally successful hashtag of social media fame. Though only if at start of the line.
#Octothorp when it’s first word
Not first word #Hashtag
As a multi-disciplinary entrepreneur have a more diverse audience set than most.
Possible to use Micro.blog as like a mother-ship to post multiple strands of feeds?
e.g. 1). Arts start-up. Posts added to blog for that site: blog.ceruleansounds.com. Syndicate: Twitter.com/ceruleansounds.
2). Tech/education start-up. Tech added to blog for that site: blog.agileEducation.co. Syndicate to Twitter.com/vv4rner etc.
Limitations:
A). only allowed one custom domain blog.w4rner.com.
Cheap idea: Redirect blog.ceruleansounds.com to blog.w4rner.com/categorie…
B). Limited to 1 syndicated account per platform?
Wanna setup cross-post to LinkedIn.com/in/w4rner & Twitter.com.com/@vv4rner next week.
I’ll consider Medium.com/@w4rner if you can filter only for longform posts??
For now, already got Mastodon.Social/@w4rner. Clicked Disable Cross-Posting (seems like temporary toggle): test.
Micro.blog doesn’t seem to impose a character limit.
I will keep mine to Twitter’s 280 out of respect to readers, and to maintain ability to syndicate.
Web-app: you can’t copy&paste photos in. Have to save & post 1 at a time (here’s a bonus #ShotOnflipPhone, from 1 year ago… doesn’t time fly!)
Have figured out how to add Categories. Then click three dots to Show Categories.
I’ve created one called ‘Learning microblog’ (you can’t use punctuation), which I’ll tag posts like this, so future n00bs might have a faster learning curve #agileEdu
